The current AAMRI President, Professor Julie Campbell, was appointed in November 2010. Professor Julie Campbell is a world leader in the field of smooth muscle biology and in 1996 became the inaugural Director of the Wesley Research Institute. Her commitment to biomedical research and science education has been recognised with her award of an Office of the Order of Australia in 2006 and her election as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science in 2000.
Professor Robert Graham, Director of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, was the immediate past-president of AAMRI.
